Our children don't come with a manual.

As parents, we have the most important job in the world. For many of us, this can feel like a lot of pressure from the beginning. That's why my practice prioritizes helping families to get off to a strong start, with a special focus on new parents and their babies. I also help families with kids of all ages.

Services include:

-Couples counseling

-Postpartum planning

-Individual proactive support & treatment for depression, anxiety, complex trauma, attachment concerns, and other stressors that impact your ability to enjoy parenthood.

-Hands-on parenting support with building your understanding of your child's needs including my direct observation. Building a strong attachment is essential but difficult sometimes for a host of reasons.

-Consultation to support sibling adjustments to new baby. Learning how to divide your attention and feel like you're "enough" is challenging.

-Learning mindfulness and guided meditation as tools to support your transition to the new "work-life balance" goal that is especially elusive for many of us parents.

What is Happy Parents, Happy Babies?

My psychotherapy practice specializes in providing new parent counseling to benefit the entire family. Therapeutic services are offered through home visits (subject to location), as well as office sessions.

Building self-awareness and developing a meaningful parenting perspective is a unique and sensitive process for each parent. Many of us can use some support along the way. I am the mom of five incredible humans. When I was adjusting to having my third child, I was in need of emotional support that my family and partner could not provide. That's when I realized that in-home support is so important for new parents, who often, like I felt, see leaving the house for "one more appointment" as exhausting and too much of a burden. I aim to provide responsive, sensitive support to new families as they navigate difficult transitions of many forms, as well as parents of kids all ages.

As parents, we all need support and it's okay to ask for help.

Frequently Asked Questions about my practice

Do you accept insurance & what is your rate?

No, I do not work directly with insurance plans. I find this gives me flexibility to work as comprehensively as desired to help the families I visit. A sliding scale is available for clients in need. A monthly receipt is provided for clients to submit for potential reimbursement (only available to clients in DC & MD). Read more about this on the Insurance page of this website.

My rate is $260/ 50 minute sessions. Coaching packages are being developed and available per request for parents everywhere (priced at $399-$3999,99. I work very individualized and keep my caseload small in order to be responsive to those who are entrusting in my support.

Where is your office?

I am fully virtual during the pandemic and when safe to do so, will see clients in my home office near the NW DC/Chevy Chase/Silver Spring border (near redline metro, by appointment only). In-home sessions are available as well, depending on your location. Call to confirm if you are interested.

What therapeutic approaches do you use?

I combine elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and relaxation techniques, Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, Solution-focused and strengths-based approaches, and motivational coaching (for those who want it). The client's faith & spirituality, as well as creative outlets such as art, writing, and music can be incorporated into our work together. How I work with a particular family is unique to their situation, needs, & desired outcomes, while using evidence-based practices.

Do you work with children and parents or just parents?

Children are often incorporated into the work we do together, and should be in many instances. This is decided collaboratively between parent and therapist and determined on a case-by-case basis. I love supporting families however I can!
